University Competitions

 

UTS sends representatives to the various sporting competitions held with other universities thoughout Australia.

All UTS students are eligible to try out for representative sporting teams. Students DO NOT have to be a member of any UTS Sports Club.

Trials for specific sports will be held approximately one to two months before the event. Contact the Sports Office on:

University Sport is divided into three main categories:

  1. AUS East - comprised of the East Coast Challenge
  2. National Intervarsity - comprised of the Australian University Games and individual Australian University Championships.
  3. World Intervarsity - comprised of the World Summer and Winter Games and individual World University Championships.


    1. East Coast Challenge
    The East Coast Challenge this year is being held at Macquarie University in Sydney between July 1-4. It's the ideal preparation for the Australian University Games and this year has 11 different sports to offer competitiors.

    2. Australian University Games
    This competition is contested by the 44 Australian Universities. In 2008, the Australian University Games will be in Melbourne September 28-October 3, with over 6,000 student competitors in attendance in 28 sports.

    3. World University Games
    Students at the elite level have the opportunity to represent Australia on the world stage at the Summer and Winter University Games or at individual World University Championships. Applications to compete are to be forwarded to the Australian University Sports Office for approval.
