For Clubs

PLEASE NOTE: UTS Union can assist your club to identify the number of Advantage Program members your club has.  The Advantage Program member only area is now active and enables Advantage Program members to update their member profile with details of their club.  If you are an existing Advantage Program member please UPDATE YOUR PROFILE NOW

1) WHY DO YOUR CLUB MEMBERS NEED TO JOIN THE ADVANTAGE PROGRAM?

If you are a member of an activities club or society, you can help your club earn higher Functions & Printing Subsidies by joining the UTS Union Advantage Program.  Functions subsidies are allocated to your club or society based on $5 per Semester per Advantage Program member.  Printing subsidies are allocated to your club or society based on $2 per year per Advantage Program member. In addition, if you are in an activities club or society, and you are also a UTS Union Advantage Program member, you are eligible to apply for the UTS Union's generous Competition & Conference Grant that provides up to 50% off travel, accommodation & registration!

If you are a member of a sports club, the KPIs which are used as a measure to determine funding, have been changed to factor in the number of club members that are Advantage Program members.  Part of your club's 2008 funding will be dependent on the percentage of UTS Union Advantage Program members your club has.  It will therefore benefit clubs to have as many of their members who are eligible, join the UTS Union Advantage Program.  UTS students and alumni are eligible to join the Advantage Program.

2) WHAT HAPPENS IF NOT ENOUGH MEMBERS JOIN THE ADVANTAGE PROGRAM?

Over the past two years the Union has been preparing for the onset of VSU through the collaborative efforts of its Board, the University and Union staff.  This has included some difficult yet necessary adjustments to its services and facilities, as well as the introduction of the Advantage Program, which is now the only way UTS Union can collect voluntary fees from students.  If the Union does not meet its membership target for the Advantage Program it will suffer a substantial budget deficit for 2008 - this could have a direct impact on the many services the Union provides and that many of your club members regularly enjoy!

3) WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?

If you are a current UTS student - JOIN NOW!

If you are alumni - JOIN NOW!

If you're neither of these: HELP SPREAD THE WORD!  Send a link to this webpage to UTS students and alumni you know.

TELL US YOUR FEEDBACK! Send an email to union.advantage@uts.edu.au and let the Union know what you think about the program or any suggestions for how you think it can be improved.  What do you think the Union should be doing to encourage more students and alumni to be a part of the Advantage Program?
