A University is not just an institution that provides you with an education and a piece of paper titled “Degree”. It is an environment and space which allows you to socialise, to question, to grow, to challenge, to interact, to reach your boundaries and to ultimately mature as an inpidual. This is what I like to call the “X-Factor”; the characteristics which distinguish Universities from “Degree Factories”. UTS Union exists to provide this extra dimension to the educational experience through the services it offers to students on campus.

Clubs & Societies

Clubs & Socs are the essential ingredient to enjoying campus life at any University. It is in these organisations that you can cut your teeth as a budding debater, politician or computer gamer – kick back and chillax with mates who share similar interests or cultural backgrounds – test your skills as a musician – or even just go drinking with when there’s not much else to do. Clubs and Socs are also a fantastic forum to develop skills as managers, organisers and leaders and will help prepare you for life after graduation.

Sport & Rec

UTS Union offers one of the most comprehensive and exciting Sport and Rec programs of any Aussie Uni. When I think of Sport & Rec my first thought directs me towards our fantastic Gym at the Broadway Campus which offers an affordable membership option as well as world class facilities.

Sports Clubs are also an institution at UTS with many of our teams participating in the yearly Australian Uni Games. For those of you who might not like the regular commitment to sport, we also offer “learn to” courses such as Scuba ping or Surfing in addition to fantastic trips around Australia. This year we will also be offering a trip to NZ!!!!!

Take the Advantage…

While walking around campus, check out the other services which we offer. UTS Union is host to a loyalty package known as the Advantage Program which will entitle you to fantastic on and off campus benefits. We also provide students with newsagency and retail services, Cafes, bars and chill out areas such as the Glasshouse Bar and the Loft. Many regular and special events will help you escape the daily grind of study - a huge line up of live music from some of Sydney’s hottest emerging artists, Oktoberfest, Fair Day, Trivia, BBQs on the Green, Happy Hours and Melbourne Cup just to name a few!
