Welcome to 2013, 25 Years and Counting!
I’d like to introduce myself, I’m Nicholas Bentley and I am the current President of the UTS Union. As President it is my aim to constantly improve your social experience here at UTS and I want to ensure that 2013, the 25th Anniversary of this fantastic university, is a year that you will never forget.
There are so many different aspects of university life outside the classroom that can add to your enjoyable and rewarding experience at UTS. Whether you are into developing your resume and skills for your future career or you simply want to have fun on campus, the UTS Union is here to help.
Get Involved!
Your time at UTS is what you make of it. It can stem from participating on a social level by attending club meetings, taking time out at The Loft, working out at the UTS Fitness Centre in Harris Street, grabbing a coffee from the Concourse, Kuring-gai or Hub cafes, or even travelling interstate and overseas for events and competitions. I strongly urge each and every one of you to get involved in the vast array of co-curricular activities that the UTS Union has to offer. Not only will your enjoyment of university life be more fulfilling, you will also make lifelong friends, develop new skills and learn more about yourself as a person.
Clubs and Societies!
The UTS Union’s Clubs and Societies have something for each and everyone at UTS. From photography to politics, entrepreneurship, student leadership, charity and human rights, sport, religion and culture, the arts, or just partying. You name it and the UTS Union will have it. With our 120+ Clubs and Societies, everyone has the opportunity to meet new people and get involved.
Sport and Rec Activities!
The UTS Union also operates the Fitness Centre on Harris Street. This state of the art facility will serve all your fitness needs. Further to this there are over 30 sporting clubs at UTS, each catering for beginners right through to the elite athlete. The UTS Union sends sporting teams to compete in many intervarsity sporting competitions, including Eastern University Games where UTS has won overall against all other Eastern Seaboard universities four times in the last 5 years.
Student Services Amenities Fee – More Services for More Students!
With the new Student Services Amenities Fee, the UTS Union is dedicating itself to ensure that it offers even more services at a more economical price for all UTS Students. The Union runs the bars, cafes, stores and eateries around each campus, so make sure you show your student card to claim your many student discount entitlements.
The Arts on Campus!
In 2013 the UTS Union is pushing to further develop the cosmopolitan nature of our unique university. The UTS Union will be undertaking key new programs to develop the arts on campus by introducing faculty revues, music week, and other artistic and creative events. A full line up of UTS Union events can be found in the UTS Union 2013 Calendar, available here.
See you Around Campus!
As a Law and Business student entering my fifth year, I have witnessed the rewards offered by involving myself in activities inside and outside the classrooms at UTS. Employers are looking for well-rounded and comprehensive students who are keen to challenge themselves and undertake new experiences. Make 2013 the year that you enhance your university experience and cultivate your activities, interests and social network at UTS.
I wish you all every success for 2013 and urge you to remember that each time you leave the classroom; there is a whole campus before you just waiting for you to get involved.
I look forward to seeing you around campus!
Cheers,
Nicholas Bentley
